Storybook privacy policy
Effective 7 November 2026. Leinwand Holdings, LLC ("we") makes the Storybook app.
The short version
Your stories, photos and videos belong to you and stay with you. We don't run a server that holds them, we don't have accounts, we don't show ads, and we don't track you.
What stays on your phone
Everything you write and every photo and video you add is kept inside the app on your phone. Photos and videos are made smaller on the phone before they are kept. Nothing is sent to us.
Backup to your own Google Drive or iCloud (optional)
If you turn on backup, the app copies your stories into your own Google Drive or iCloud account, using the sign-in you give it on your phone. The copies go straight from your phone to Google or Apple; they never pass through us.
- Google Drive: the app asks only for permission to see and change the files it creates itself (Google's "drive.file" permission). It cannot see any other file in your Drive. The app's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We do not use your Google data for advertising, we do not sell it, and no person at Leinwand Holdings reads it.
- iCloud: the app saves into its own folder in your iCloud account, which only you can see.
You can turn backup off at any time in the app's Settings. You can delete the backup folder from Google Drive or iCloud yourself, and you can remove the app's Google access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Sharing a PDF
When you share a story as a PDF, the app makes the file on your phone and hands it to your phone's own share menu. Who receives it is your choice; we are not involved.
Purchases
The $9.99 unlock is paid through Google Play or the Apple App Store. They handle the payment; we never see your card or bank details. We learn only that the unlock was bought, so the app can open.
Problem notes
If a photo or video can't be read, the app keeps a short note on your phone (the kind of file and the reason, never the picture itself). It is sent to us only if you choose "Send them to the maker" in Settings, using your own email or messaging app.
Children
Storybook is for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age.
Deleting your information
Because we hold none of it, deleting is in your hands: delete stories in the app, uninstall the app to remove everything on the phone, and delete the backup folder in Google Drive or iCloud.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
